Resume Tape

For OUR VERY LAST assignment of the semester, we were given the task to create a resume reel that we could possibly use for a job interview as a news anchor. I combined video from class as well as from my internship to create my last project. Here is the video below.

News Package

This week, we were assigned to do a complete news package. We had to collect b-roll film, write a script, and complete a voiceover like a live news cast. I did my project on a fundraiser at the Barber Tech Academy right here in Orangeburg, SC. I went with my supervisor from the radio station to shoot the footage and interview three people then put it all together to create this package. Here's the finished product.

60 Second Commercial

This week, we were given the task to create a 30 to 60 second commercial on whatever we wanted. We shot the opening standup in the green screen room and then added video to the rest of it. I chose to do mine on the upcoming pageant I will be assisting in making next semester. Video below:

Chestnut Street Bridge Report

For this week we did an update of the school's new pedestrian bridge. The bridge will connect University Village and Campus Corner housing with the main campus so students will not have to cross the 4-way highway that runs in between. We used previously recorded B-roll film, then added our voice overs and cut clips. Once we put it all together it came out as a pretty good clips that could be used in a news report.

Individual Creative Studio Lighting Creations

We learned about 4 different Classic lighting techniques that photographers use to add depth to their photos. I used my battle Jordan Beagle as my subject.

The first technique was Rembrandt or 45 degree Lighting. To get this effect we used the Key Light set high at a downward angle set at 45 degrees in front of the subject, a Fill Light set opposite of the Key Light even with the side of the subject's face, and a Back Light set behind the subject at a 45 degree angle.
Next we used the Split or 90 degree Lighting where we placed the Key Light at the subject's eye level and 90 degrees to the side of the face.
Next we used the Broad Lighting technique. To create this look we used the Rembrandt Lighting set up, but have the subject's face off centered.
Lastly, we used the Butterfly Lighting technique. It is named from the butterfly shaped shadow that is created under the subjects nose

Next we used the Split or 90 degree Lighting where we placed the Key Light at the subject's eye level and 90 degrees to the side of the face.

Lighting Assignment

We were given the task to go outside and play with the reflector to learn how it actually works. I used Iris as my subject and took three different photos of her. The first one was of the glare from the sunlight without using the reflector.
The second photo is of how we actually look using the reflector to bounce the sunlight onto the subject. (Iris)
The final photo is of how bright Iris looks with the light being reflected directly onto her.

Quick Takes Picture in Picture

This we we were given the assignment to make a response or reaction video of our own to popular videos that are in the news. What made this project different was we had to put the video pretty much on top of one another. We were originally suppose to do this effect using iMovie, but I found it way easier to do in Adobe Premiere Pro, with the help of YouTube videos of course. I did me reactions to Kanye West most recent rants, singer Jeremih having a stunt double, and singer Brandy trowing shade at the recent Soul Train Awards. Watch below.

Five Questions Segment

We did this particular project in teams of three and all took turns being the director, host, and guest. This was our first time using the green screen during the semester with Adobe Premiere Pro. It was surprisingly easy to do. For the first video, I was the director, Justin Hill was the host, and Connie Maybin was the guest. I was not sure how the green screen would work because the background wasn't an actual wall, and the folds of the sheet were folded in the background.

Person On The Street

For this assignment, I partnered up with my classmate Jordan Beagle to interview students on campus about Homecoming. This was the first time we actually used the cameras without the tripod to give our videos more of a news report feel. We recorded the stand ups for the video ahead of time for the introduction and the conclusion for a realistic look. This was also my first time using Adobe Premiere Pro, which is very different from the other software I was used to using.

This action sequence video was shot last week with the help of my classmate Alexis.
